because you should always take me with a grain of salt...
A partial list of the bargain-basement videos I've bought and watched in the last two months. Some of which are sins of taste, all of which I'd seen before:
  • Charlie's Angels -- loved
  • All Jurassic Park movies -- loved
  • All the Friday the 13th movies -- loved
  • Con Air -- loved
  • Deep Impact -- watched while hating myself, cried at the ending
  • From Hell -- Depp pretty
  • Clay Pigeons -- loved
  • Twister -- haven't (re)watched yet
  • Regarding Henry -- watched half of it, got bored
  • The Ninth Gate -- Johnny Depp, Lena Olin, Frank Langella, shut up!
  • The Island of Dr. Moreau -- but only played it muted as background visuals while typing, so will not go to hell
  • Unbreakable -- haven't (re)watched yet
  • L.A. Confidential -- haven't (re)watched yet
  • Child's Play 3 -- watched 20 minutes, vaguely hating self, lapsed into coma, stopped
  • Best in Show -- haven't (re)watched yet
  • Waiting for Guffman -- watched a third of it, began to feel deeply for the patheticness of humanity, had to shut it off

Movies I would have bought if I could have found them: Dreamcatcher, Nick of Time. Movies I rented: Boogeyman, Exorcist: The Beginning. (Both surprisingly good.) Movies I already owned and rewatched: Manos: The Hands of Fate, Halloween, most of Eye of the Beholder, all the Scream movies.

I'm really not an intimidating person, you must admit. --> *unsecret identity is dork*

Con Air is an awfully fun movie, isn't it?

It is awesome. *g*

I like Cage SO much more when he's not taking himself seriously. I've seen Leaving Las Vegas, and yes, very bleakly impressive, whatever, but my favorite performance of his is National Treasure. By a mile.

I haven't seen National Treasure. I must go IMDb it...
Brassy Hag: Hurley - Pee On Itmiggy on June 25th, 2005 08:08 pm (UTC)
It's delightful. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than an over-the-top summer popcorn flick, and it fills that role very well.

Hee! I loved Clay Pigeons, too! Wasn't it the best? Talk about the slash potential....

Something you might like, if you liked Clay Pigeons, is The Treat. It has Georgina Cates in it as well, 'though she plays a much different character. Don't be put off by the presence of one of the heavier Baldwin brothers. Or the weird package description, 'cause it's really not what the movie's about. It's a similar-feeling movie to Clay Pigeons, and, well, try it sometime if you can find it.

Clay Pigeons -- loved

This is the movie that started my deep and abiding lust for Joaquin Phoenix. Plus, it has Janeane Garofalo in it, and my god, how can anyone not want her?

Someday I will re-watch and write slash for this movie. I will. Because you just know it's all about Lester's obsession with keeping Clay for himself. (And OMG, is Vince Vaughn not an amazingly sexy psychotic murderer?)

Wow, look at all the Clay Pigeons love! I saw that movie in the theaters, and thought that I must be the only person on the planet who knew about it. Loved that movie.

Manos: The Hands of Fate

Three-note theme music! Love! Heeeeeee! Although, I've gotta say I'm impressed with your ability to *re*watch that one.

You only watch Dr. Moreau on mute? You missed one of the most wonderfully sick m/m flirtations caught on film! There are sctions of it to avoid, but I have my guide to The Good Parts version here if you're interested.
Anna S.: cillian-spike21eliade on June 26th, 2005 03:21 am (UTC)
Oh, I'd seen it before and agree--very very slashy. Which is partly why I bought it. But even muted, the (campy) badness bled through. Not sure when I'll be able to really watch it again. *g*
Viridian5: Mitsuoviridian5 on June 26th, 2005 11:53 am (UTC)
True. It's not something one can view constantly. *g*

*dies* I love you when you're wacky. Well, I love you all the time. But when you surprise me with that extra whack I melt to goo for you.
