chapter six of my day
I apologize for the spam--it's like I'm dumping truckloads on you, tons of spam excavated from the bowels of the earth.

But anyway. I'm trying to write...

*crickets chirp*

I got nothing. Talk to me more, please? Really. Speak to me your non-smutty-but-kinky thoughts. I promise to chat back.

I mean...I'm not the only one online on a Friday night, right? On the whole Internet? Because that would just be sad.

Too late to the party to be of any immediate use (Sat. afternoon now), but since this question has been tugging at me since you asked it, forcing me to puzzle my own out, and you said you might use them later for other tales, I figured--what the heck! So--my (mostly) unsmutty kinks:

--Someone who really gets the other person, seeing through the image most people have (which is why I liked that exchanges between Jack and Vaughn in "Shortcuts" chapters "The Dinner Party" and "The Bedroom," among others)

--Subtle body language/touch to show relationships, particularly when the individuals themselves may not yet fully recognize what's going on (Vaughn on the phone with Jack at the coffee shop in "Shortcuts: The Office" and especially the shower scene in Paris at the end of ch. 6 in "Bona Fides," both Vaughn's unspoken offer and Jack's response, which gives rather than takes. I'm also really enjoying this aspect of the role of touch in your Sentinel stories, which lend themselves to that kind of sensuality/physicality, and you do it very well. The contact doesn't have to be overtly or even implicitly sexual--the hand on the back of the neck under the hair or on the shoulder, just as comfort, gets me every time. This is one of the reasons I love they way James Caan played his role in the Jane Fonda film "Comes a Horseman"--and despise him for describing it since as wussy, since it shows great strength and tenderness.)

And there are more nibbling at the corners of my mind, but these are two of the main ones, so I'll quit there.

It is not too late! I'm still totally stuck. :) <--> :(

I like your ideas--the touching, the *getting*. Yes. And a hand on the nape of the neck is a huge wow for me.

So cool to know you're reading Sentinel too! *g* I bring out my new Blair icon for you.

Thank you!
