Jurassic Park 2 had Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, Pete Postlethwaite, Vince Vaughn, and Richard Schiff--cool cast, fun movie. But the end makes no sense. Ship hits dock, captain and crew are dead, but T. Rex is still in the hold. So who killed the crew? I thought that raptors had snuck onto the boat--that severed hand certainly looked like a finesse job--but no, no raptors. Huh.

To riff a meme off this entry by prillalar:

Friday is...

...a day off.
...painting my nails.
...scoring five baskets in a row.
...pasta with homemade sauce.
...another brick in the wall load of laundry.
...weird, sexy Jack/Vaughn thoughts.
...a sudden sleepiness.

We had a household talk about the end of JP2 the other night - the boys claim it makes perfect sense (they said the baby Rex did it and I'm like que?) but there's no way it does, at all.

Yeah, that doesn't work--the baby was transported separately *and* you can tell from the parent's behavior at the end (in the hold, when they eat the turkey of a newphew) that it was teaching its kid to kill and that it was the baby's first time. Sigh.

Exactly what I was saying. I was actually really annoyed at the plothole. *g* And then the boys were like "Oh, no, maybe the Rex got out and then put itself BACK" and I pointed out that first of all, they were insane, and second of all, the guy's hand was severed while shutting the hold, and they were like "huh."

Maybe it'll come out in a future movie, that there were raptors there? Or something?

I think that it's supposed to be that raptors et them and then got off the boat when it stopped, but--yeah, really still doesn't make any sense.

It's probably in the novel(ization)--it was really clear that the end, when they'd reached the States, was rushed in the editing. It felt like a lot got cut or elided.
