bad horror movies...
...are wonderful. I watched most of Fallen, and am now watching Halloween: H20. If Jack Davenport is my celebrity boyfriend, then Jamie Lee Curtis is my eternal celebrity girlfriend. That lean, boyish woman is a spoonful of hotness. One of those elegant but incredibly generous spoonfuls, and a rich mouthful of peanut butter besides. Yum.

I've got Alien Versus Predator selected via On Demand. I've watched part of it, but didn't follow much of the "plot" because I was diddling around online at the same time. I need to record it and finish watching later. I know this is an awkwardly timed comment (Buffy kerfuffle-wise), but can I just say: when I saw that the main character was a competent, matter-of-fact black woman, who kicked things off by climbing alone up an ice cliff in the middle of nowhere (!), I squeed like crazy!

I still want to watch the original Anaconda sometime soon, and I may rewatch The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra later tonight, for, like, the ninth time, because it's not possible to watch that movie too many times.

Can I randomly rec Deep Blue Sea, by the way? It falls into the genre of Giant Shark Movies. A great giant-creature genre. It is deeply fun. *g*

Re: Deep Blue Sea, OMG HA! I love that movie! It's so wonderfully dumb. THE SHARKS ARE THINKING! Also, how can you not love LL Cool J's excellent theme song? "Deepest, bluest, my head is like a shark's fin" are some of the most brilliant lyrics ever written. Why that song did not get nominated for a Best Song Oscar is BEYOND me. ;)

Argh. LJ is a bitch! I just wrote a reply and it was eaten. Must try to recreate it...

LL Cool J--he was in Halloween: H20 too. *g*

And, uh...sadly, that's all I remember from my previous comment, but I know in the original I was much more brilliant. Gahhhhhhhhh!

But ... Fallen isn't a bad horror movie! It's one of my favourite horrors -- not over the top, just the right kind of creepiness with great layers. Now Anaconda -- that's a bad horror movie.

Hi, by the way.
Anna S.eliade on March 5th, 2005 06:54 am (UTC)
I am terribly ungenerous in my sweeping generalizations. *g* I don't have any really ratings-driven opinions about Fallen. And frankly, I think Halloween: H20 is fabulous! It, along with the original movie, ranks right up there for me. I love, love, love good horror movies, and creature movies. I don't even know why, when I try to delve down to the root of it. I'm just a sucker for genre. :)

Also: hi, back! *g*

I love "Deep Blue Sea"! It's got great stalking sharks, and one of the best death scenes EVER. Also, much as I love LL Cool J, it's one of the only characters of his I have ever felt the urge to see slash about. And, hey, he's a cook.

I love "Deep Blue Sea"!

*grabs your arms and jumps up and down*

Oh my god--and I know *exactly* which one you mean! I must confirm this tomorrow at the bash.

Also, much as I love LL Cool J, it's one of the only characters of his I have ever felt the urge to see slash about. And, hey, he's a cook.

Wow! And I must ask about this too, you mysterious slasher girl, you....

Alien vs. Predator is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
Anna S.eliade on March 5th, 2005 06:59 am (UTC)
Maybe that's why I totally couldn't follow it! Stupid movie. Seriously: I restarted it via On Demand *four* times. And finally figured I'd just record it and watch it later. *g*

And how are you, btw? :)
KJVkjv31 on March 5th, 2005 07:03 am (UTC)
I am recovering from a week-long bout with the flu. You?
Anna S.eliade on March 5th, 2005 07:06 am (UTC)
Oh no! The flu sucks. The bad part of having the flu is...well, ninety percent of one's consciousness. The good part is the ten percent that doesn't give a shit about everything. I hope you're finally feeling better.

Me...I'm very much liking my new position at BigLameCompany.com, and otherwise--nothing at all. Seriously. The last few weeks? Eh. I miss touching base with friends. I've just been diddling around.

I think of you now and then, and always fondly. :) Feel better!

Thanks.

BTW, don't give up on AvP because of me. I'm disillusioned with the genre as a whole right now so my opinion may be a bit skewed.

Now sleep I.

Oh, I'm sure I'll sit (or lie) through it sooner or later. Heh.

Now sleep I.

I count it one of the greater successes in recent years that I was able to hook you and Amy on that movie. Relaly! *g* Success in pimping makes me pump my fists and yell, "Yo!" at the universe.

Oh my god I *so* can't spell tonight. I meant "really" of course.

Mr. Spike has long wanted to share this one with me. I am still recovering from "Q: The Winged Serpent".

, and I may rewatch The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra later tonight, for, like, the ninth time, because it's not possible to watch that movie too many times. So very true. Rower!

Can I randomly rec Deep Blue Sea, by the way? It falls into the genre of Giant Shark Movies. A great giant-creature genre. It is deeply fun. *g*
It *was* deeply fun. And it has the best *spoiler* moment of surprise. You know the one I mean. I love that scene.
Anna S.eliade on March 5th, 2005 07:11 am (UTC)
I don't think I've ever seen the "Q" movie, but I'm just *guessing* that Anaconda will be better. Heh. Hey--it has Owen Wilson! (So I've heard recently. It's been forever since I've seen it.)

Rower!

*loves you for the second time today*

It *was* deeply fun. And it has the best *spoiler* moment of surprise. You know the one I mean. I love that scene.

Yes, yes, yes. I laughed so hard the first time I saw that, simply because it was so *awewsome.*
Anna S.eliade on March 5th, 2005 07:11 am (UTC)
Um. I can't spell. I meant "awesome" of course. *g*

Lost Skeleton of Cadavra ROCKS.
