Van Helsing
I've been watching this movie for 57 minutes and nothing of substance has happened yet. That's so sad. They should have skimmed off 7 minutes worth of highlights from that hour and used it as seed for another, better movie.

Van Helsing is the worst movie I've ever seen.

And that's saying a lot.

I still think League of Extraordinary Gentlemen may be worse. Or at least as stupid.

I second that. And in fact, I even thought the CGI was shit.

I have discovered the trick to watching this movie--to not actually watch it.

That was the only movie my friends and I openly, loudly mocked in the theater. We tried to be good, but by the end we just couldn't take it anymore. Hugh Jackman, I thought you knew better...

Oh God, rivkat and I saw it in the theater and were like, maybe someone could make a fun vid--like to "Thriller"!--and that would justify the existence of this movie somewhat... No, well, then maybe it will help if Hugh Jackman takes off some clothes now? And then by the time he finally did it was too late and even that didn't help, which was just--really sad.

Talk about disappointed!! We went to see this on my birthday. It was appallingly bad--not making up its mind whether it wanted to be cutesie-funny, Indiana-Jonesy or scary as hell. It didn't end up being anything. [ptui!] And what about whatsherface's get-up and God what was that accent?

Maybe someone should make a silly vid about it, if she can bear to watch it enough to make one.

Your icon is so cute! Did you do that to your dog?

But that's the beauty part!
As mindless entertainment, it's practically a vegetable.

Anyway I know you cried at the end.

Van Helsing sucked werewolf balls. You know a movie is bad when even Hugh Jackman's prettiness can't save it.

Thanks for the warning - saved me a few quid!

That's awesome and cheering. Thank you. :>)

I think Troy is worse. Van Helsing is stupid, there's a half-way decent movie in there somewhere, screaming to get out but it got squashed under too many effects.

I enjoyed it even as I bemoaned its flaws - but at that time I would have enjoyed anything: I was in Berlin for a few days visiting a friend, meeting drcoulter and seeing JM give a nice Q&A. :-) I had a ball, so I wasn't going to let Van Helsing ruin my buzz.

Still, it's a crying shame. I liked the Bond joke, thought the brides looked smashing and even enjoyed a few visuals, but all in all it was just too much of everything. *burps*

I enjoyed Van Helsing purely as mindless eye candy. Turn off the brain and soak in the visuals. Lots of cute guys (I wanted to see more of Anna's hot brother.) And of course, props to David Wenham for some fine acting even with a ridiculous script. Plus it had a rather nice score. But I don't think I'll buy it.

I have to admit, I like Dracula--or wanted to. I find that actor fetching and he rarely turns up in stuff I catch. :>)
