you know...
"Kick the Stones" by Chris Whitley is my Spike/Riley song.

Just FYI.

I should be embarrassed about this, probably, but why pretend. Also, it's not the lyrics, but the fact that it's imprinted on my brain set to mental imagery of them rolling around on a picnic table, and I'll just be shutting up and going back to work now.

Spike/Riley?
::blink::
That had honestly never occured to me. And I'm the freak who wrote Fred/Joyce.
I like the sound of it...

It's one of the better portmanteaus. "Spriley."

Spriley I went forth that spring day, picking pansies where I may!

Er, yes.

But seriously--Spike/Riley gives me a happy. There should be more of it.

Got any "best-of" links to share? ;)

Hmm. Am at work right now. Will have to chew on that. Perhaps other commenters will post some recs.

Oooh!
There's "Anatomy of a Seduction" that's co-written by Mistress Ace. It's not as polished as her current work, but her Riley voice is pretty keen.

Actually, there's a funny story about that. I've been beta reading for Ace for over a year, and a few months ago we were talking about BtVS & Riley's role (she loved him, I don't), and, for no apparent reason I mentioned reading a fic some years ago that was the only fic that made me "buy" a Spike/Riley 'ship... but it sorta devolved into shameless schmoop and was never really finished.

Ah, the coincidence.

I think she's astonished that people will actually read it, but it's got a very cool setup and is a fun ride.

Anna's just bein' coy, cos she wrote a cute one with canary feathers and everything, which convinced me even though I don't like Riley much. Don't know where it's archived though.

Your icon makes me cry.

There, now who's more embarrassed? :-P

You always post about your fic fantasies and dreams as if the rest of us couldn't possibly be as romantic/twisted/word-of-choice as you are, but seriously, you don't owe anyone any apologies. I suspect that all of us with you on our flists read these particular types of posts with heartfelt sighs of bliss and/or calls of "Oh, YEAH, baby!"

::hugs:: I was listening to an upbeat mix version of "Dancing Queen" the other day and got all teary-eyed thinking of that wedding dress scene from Muriel's Wedding. Which will not mean much if you haven't seen it, but still, I think we're at least tying.

Hee. Thank you. *g*

I did share that whole Hanson-based VK/JM thing a while back, so really, the needle's already set to "No shame."

Chris Whitley, huh?

Dude, I LOVE that song! Why does it bring to mind that absolutely DELICIOUS-sounding image? :)
