la la la.
Situation: My phone isn't working and my monitor is fuzzy.

Deskside Support Guy, trundling up with a cart: Hello.

Me: Oh, thank god, I was just about to write you and beg. This monitor is driving my eyes crazy.

Deskside Support Guy: Well, you know, there are a lot of people going without phones and monitors right now.

Me, blinking: Oh, that's...unfortunate.

Give me a break. And there are starving children in China. WTF? People going without monitors? Yeah, whatever, dude.

We're a technology company and we're proud.

That's the best excuse I've ever heard tech support give. I really feel sorry for the people who just type away and you know, HOPE that they're not receiving error messages...

Dude, I haven't had a monitor in months. I just have to click until I hear the hard drive start to whir, and then I type like crazy.

You're so lucky, with your big fuzzy screen.

When will we be able to jack in directly through the optic nerve? That's what I want to know!

Yeah, if you're not jacked in, you're not alive!

I was once upset that I had no clear monitor. Then I met a man who had no monitor. Then I met a man who had no keyboard. Then I slapped the tech support guy and went home to have a mocha.

It's a touching, and thought-provoking story. *g*

Can you tell if the emonitor is fuzzy because the video card doesn't work right with it, or because the screen settings are off? I bet that tech has no idea. He sounds like a likely candidate for being outsourced.

Me thinks the...um, I did you put it? Ah yes, the Big! Robot! Head! monitor read what you had typed and got pissed. It's now giving you attitude.
