song recs request, redux
So one of the vids I saw yesterday was a cool anime one to "A Little Less Conversation." The song was the JXL remix, which I understand is the theme song to the show "Las Vegas."

This is the kind of fast, rythmic stuff I like to work out to--other songs include "Battleflag" and "Bodyrock" and old stuff like "Groove is in the Heart" and the fast Amii Stewart version of "Knock on Wood." I'm looking for some new stuff and was wondering if anyone has recs for songs in that vein.

Don't have any song recs, but I am utterly adoring your icon right now. It's so amazing. Where did you get it from?

I got it quite a while back and I know I should remember who from, but I don't. Sorry. :>(

It's from a painting by the Scottish artist Jack Vettriano. He's an interesting figure: the most widely reproduced artist in Britain yet none of his paintings hang in the Scottish National Gallery. He's a wee bit bitter about it too. *g*

Not everyone works out to Britney Spears? Just me then. But! I do have some upbeat recs:

1. Southside by Moby
2. Slip the Drummer One by Cornershop
3. True Faith by New Order
4. From the QaF US Soundtrack, You Think You're a Man (7" Radio Edit)

Happy work-out!

Thank you, my little rosfodling. I will check all these out. (And by the way, I saw a Vividcon picture of you--cutie!)

Some selections from my workout playlist (which includes Conversation and Battleflag, but those are on the non-fluffy end of the group):

"Around the World," Aqua
"Back From Mars," Aqua
"Dirrty," Christina Aguilera
"Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (Neptunes Crazy Remix)," Daft Punk
"The Rhythm is Magic," Marie Claire D'Ubaldo
"Another Race," Eiffel 65
"You Thought Wrong," Kelly Clarkson (feat. Tamyra Gray)
"Mundian To Bach Ke," Punjabi MC
"Turn the Beat Around," Vicki Sue Robinson

Most of these are pretty sugary, but they've all got solid beats that make them good for working out to.

I can always count on you, the master-mistress of all music. (That was just Shakespearian, not an implication about the dubiousness of your gender, of course.)
for you I'd bleed myself dry: kittywitch iPodboniblithe on August 22nd, 2004 02:26 pm (UTC)

The Chemical Brothers - "Let Forever Be"
Bjork - "Hyperballad" (You can actually find remixes of this by several DJs that are even peppier than the original.)
Crystal Method's remix of Filter's "Trip Like I Do"

Hope that helps ;)

Timo Maas To Get Down
Jamiroquai Supersonic
Richard X and Kelis "Finest Dreams" (samples Human League)
Syntax Pray
Super Furry Animals "The Man Don't Give A Fuck" (great for when you're angry and weirdest use of a Steely Dan sample ever)
Kate Bush/Utah Saints "Something Good" (Samples Cloudbusting. Fantastic.)
Sub Sub "Space Face" and "Aint No Love, Aint No Use" (Went on to become the band Doves)
Franz Ferdinand "Take Me Out"
Bassheads "Is There Anybody Out There?"
A Guy Called Gerald "Voodoo Ray"
Prodigy "Climbatize"

Oh wow, I actually saw the poster of your icon in a friend's apartment just the other day. :)
ansin on August 25th, 2004 09:44 am (UTC)
"Speaking in Tongues," Eagles of Death Metal
"Bluish Boy," Blinker the Star
"Michael" (as bonus, is gay and with dancing) and possibly "The Dark of the Matinee," Franz Ferdinand
most of Elastica's stuff
"Glass Danse [sic]," "Worked Up So Sexual," The Faint
"Syria," Specimen-- might be more "rock" than you're going for, though
