Quiet Girl Speaks: News at Eleven

Brad Pitt smiled and said hi to me today. Maybe you're like me: if an unappetizing specimen of manhood--a stranger on the street--says hello to you, you automatically assess threat level, DSM-IV disorder, and either ignore him or offer a grudging nod. When the Brad Pitts of the world say hello, however, you think what a nice guy for acknowledging your existence rather than kicking you to the gutter as he passed. I mean, I'd just come from the gym, my shorts were riding up my thighs, my legs were chicken-plucked pale, and I need a haircut in the worst way: it was a kindness of him to exert his charisma.

It might actually have been Brad Pitt. He was that Pittiful--the kind of resemblance where you do a double-take five yards later and wonder whether there's any reason a movie star might be visiting Seattle.

Hello. I didn't mean to take so much time off from LJ, I just sort of fell into it once my leave from work started. I was more or less offline for a while, actually. I've been going to therapy and the gym and cleaning my apartment, and those are pretty much the highlights of my life at the moment. I've just started writing again after a hiatus that was also happenstance; I'm working very belatedly on my second Spander Inquisition story. I'm reading my flist again, though with one eye out for pitfalls of Angel spoilers. I'm caught up on the current season of QAF. I have a new computer, an open-minded sort of machine that lets me do stuff like download iTunes, which I'm building an addiction for.

This is my current playlist--short list, anyway--of happy and kicky songs, plus the, um, power ballad at the end:

  • It's My Party - Lesley Gore
  • Chapel of Love - Dixie Cups
  • You Don't Own Me - Lesley Gore
  • Sin Wagon - Dixie Chicks
  • History Repeating - Propellerheads
  • Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' - Journey (shut up)
  • Bad Case of Loving You - Robert Palmer
  • Girls Just Want to Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper
  • It's Raining Men - Weather Girls
  • David Duchovny - Bree Sharp
  • Bodyrock - Moby
  • Hero - Chad Kroeger

I am eagerly taking song recs by the way.

Okay. Just exercising my fingers here, gearing up to hopefully post again more regularly. Kisses!
