gay love moment of the day
The Onion is sometimes strangely poignant.

yay The Onion!
Awww, one of those "if it wasn't for X I would be Y" moments. Thoughts like these have cross my brain. Logovo as a lesbian and logovo as a gay man. Like 'Keith' I rather think I'd be fabulous ;)

Keith is just settling, with a little ambition, he too could be gay
That was funny but also weirdly moving and kind of sad, why couldn't this guy do some of this life enhancing stuff as he is?

Yet I see what he means in his final paragraph about if he was gay he would be his own creation (I suppose because in a predominantly heterosexual world he thinks that he wouldn't have a ready-made, off the peg mould and would have had to have made his own) and would have grown used to the shaping and paring process necessary and would apply it to every facet of his life.

The other sad thing about the article is the constant prejudice inherent in our society that it highlights, such that the article can be read, and I'm sure will be by some, with the clear implication that being gay means being different (okay, in this article the differences all seem to be positive)you can't just be a slobby gay IT guy because, well, that's not how gay men are, at least not on "Will and Grace" (although in my experience, the IT nerd gene must be dominant over the homosexual one). It's no wonder that gay people are still battling to get married and have the rights that any hairy nosed snob can take for granted.

I love the blithe, airy way he assumes that he would be different and in some ways better if he could only be gay - maybe if I changed my orientation I could lose weight, forge a career, move to a fabulous, spacious loft and live on the left bank of the Seine?

Oh, wow. "If I only had a heart " ........ I hope he finds maybe all three of these things and bends the reality towards this nice, well groomed guy who could be supportive of his wife and affectionate to his kids .......... One tiny step at a time. Like string art.
