I eat your brains. Mostly.
Right, so:

1. Did anyone create a comprehensive memories list for people's Vividcon vid reviews?

2. Did anyone else's Vividcon DVDs have a flaw at the end of the first disk that makes the last 3 or 4 vids unplayable?

3. There are two places to top off antifreeze in a car, the radiator and the coolant reservoir. A mechanic for AAA told me that you should add it only via the radiator, but I can never get the cap off so I always add it to the reservoir. Am I going to hell for this?

And, because I'm a saint who likes to give back to the community kind of bored and avoid-y, I'm going to offer myself up for the meme where you all can ask me a question, any question, and I'll answer it. Not necessarily with the truth, but probably not with nursery rhymes.

It's been a geological era since I last did this, during which new and mysterious people have friended me, so if you've never posted a comment before now, please try to make your question as revealing as possible so that I can learn more about you. For example: "Just out of purely theoretical curiosity, Anna, and not because I have any perverse kink, do you think you'd enjoy dressing up in a furry badger costume, and is there any chance you might be visiting the Twin Cities area soon?" Details like this will prove useful for filing police reports and compiling Tupperware party guest lists.

Hello!

Re: ever been blonde?
ever been blonde?

Yes! I was a blonde for a while in high school, senior year. There was one great picture of me in our yearbook, full shock of bleached hair, but I never got a yearbook, so it's lost to posterity. I have a few photos of me where it's mostly grown out; but no scanner, so you're out of luck, baby.

ever wanted to be blonde? Ever had a blonde?

No, but I think I dreamed of Marilyn Monroe last night. Huh.

Do you think I'd look good blonde?

Yes! You *must* do it! I command.

If spike wasn't blond, bleach or no, would he still be Spike?

Herself would argue yes, and I'd have to agree too. :>D In fiction, anyway. Harder to imagine it on the show, though he came close in early S7 with those dark roots (anvilly symbolism courtesy of Joss! Whedon!). Hmmm.

A number of people posted links to their VividCon vid reviews in the VividCon LJ, and I think Elke also linked to some of the posts, here.

You may certainly have another disk - all you have to do is ask. :) I'll get it in the mail to you on Monday.

Damn, you're sweet and fast and all things good! I'd have gotten around to contacting you guys eventually...probably. I'm pretty lazy, actually. The kind of lazy where I don't even get my mail from my mailbox for weeks at a time. *g* But you have taken any need for effort away! *kiss* Thank you.

If you had any problems with the VividCon DVDs at all, you should contact Killa at killa at slashcity dot com. She wants to know about any and all glitches.

She is already all over it like butter on toast! Amazing. (I almost wrote "Amazon." Perhaps that too.)

Thank you! :>D

Not new, obviously, but can I ask a question too? Yes?

If you were from the Greek Myths, which character/monster/story/allegory would you be?

Not new, obviously, but can I ask a question too? Yes?

Yes! But I'm afraid that uses up your question, so thank you for playing!

(Hee. I am five.)

If you were from the Greek Myths, which character/monster/story/allegory would you be?

I'm one of the arrogant daughters of King Proetus, who were driven mad by the goddess Hera and fated to roam the countryside thinking they were cows. Or hey, maybe Pasiphae:
Wife of King Minos of Crete. When the gods sent Minos a beautiful white bull, he did not sacrifice it as he should have done. In punishment, Pasiphae was inflicted with a passion for the beast, which ultimately led to the birth of the Minotaur, a monster half-man and half-bull. Minos had the Labyrinth built to house the beast and, some say, his wife as well.
Ah, Spike, Spike, Spike....

Spike and Xander are about to die, and you can only save one. Which one do you save?
Anna S.: xander_laideliade on December 6th, 2003 01:49 pm (UTC)
Man, you are evil. You really *aren't* Nathan Fillion, are you?

Probably Xander. Spike has a better chance of saving himself. But it depends on the scenario--are they standing in front of speeding trains on two separate tracks, each of them obliviously stoned and giggling? Is a mad dictator forcing me to choose while a giant scythe swings back and forth? Does "death" mean dusting for Spike, but possibly vamping for Xander? I think too because we've already seen Spike die once, it'd be easier the second time around. Whereas Xander--I refuse to let him go to that good night until he's had a little more joy in his life. We also need to get Xander laid. See icon for "just got laid" face.

When you write, do you feel like you're controlling what goes on and what the characters do, or is it more like they take over and get up to stuff without your permission? Or is it something else entirely?
Anna S.: storytellingeliade on December 6th, 2003 01:54 pm (UTC)
A combination of the two. Sometimes it feels like improv and I'm the director. I give them the rough outlines of a scenario and then they take it and run with it--my hands start typing and I let them talk.

That sounds cheesey though. I don't know. I also struggle with the feeling that they don't have *enough* independent life or else they'd surprise me more than they do. The characters one writes are all limited by one's own imagination when it comes right down to it.
okoge on December 6th, 2003 01:55 pm (UTC)
did you once write a mulder/krycek western, or am i mixing you up in my memory with someone else?
Anna S.: muldereliade on December 6th, 2003 02:01 pm (UTC)
Nope, never wrote that. And I can't think of anything I wrote that might have been mistaken for that. Sorry! But maybe someone else will see your question and have a better answer.

I don't know. So much of my life has been crap and crappy choices, and there's plenty I'd change about my current life, yet I'm invested enough in my ego, in its present incarnation, that when I start to imagine changing stuff in the past, it's like the time-travel fear: I wouldn't be *me* anymore. You know? Maybe I'd never have ended up writing or something.

But that aside...I never wanted my family to move from Maine to Virginia when I was five. And I've got deep resentments surrounding my enrollment in Job Corps when I was eighteen, even though it got me away from the nowheresville of living at home and working fast-food, got me moving and limping toward independence, pushed me into college, etc.

Will you?
As an old Star Trek OS fan (as well as an enslaved Buffy fan - I bought the gang's toy cars...)I would love to read some Trek fiction - is there ANY chance you will ever post any of it? Pretty please, with sugar on?

Re: Will you?
Probably not. Sorry. It was only on floppies and the files have degraded. I suppose a few people I sent it to years ago might still have copies. If I don't forget, maybe I'll ask them. (She said in the vaguest possible way. *g*)

What's your favorite icon of yours? Which of your Buffy fics is your favorite and why?

What's your favorite icon of yours?

This one. Because that's the closest pic I have to how I imagine ideal Spike. With the happy face and spikeful hair. So beautiful.

Which of your Buffy fics is your favorite and why?

Probably the first Sidelines. It seems to be holding up well. That's all I really ask of a story--that I don't return to it years later and wince in shame.

If you could take all the major characters on BtVS and AtS and put them into the relationships with the people you thought they should be with, what would be the pairings?

Do you have pairings that you will never read under any circumstances?

Would you ever dress up as a crocodile and sing Mary Had A Little Lamb?
Anna S.: angeleliade on December 6th, 2003 03:43 pm (UTC)
If you could take all the major characters on BtVS and AtS and put them into the relationships with the people you thought they should be with, what would be the pairings?

Xander should have come out of the closet and gone through Buffy's Parker phase, followed by a few demon train wrecks, and wound up with a nice guy, kind of like Riley, but none of the current characters and definitely not Andrew. (Though I have nothing against reading the occasional X/A.)

Buffy should have stayed with Riley. Not so much dramatically interesting, I admit, but they should have tried to make a go of it for a few more years and then broken up at the end of the series as Buffy realizes she is cookie dough.

Spike gets obsessed with Willow and they have a whole dark arc together.

If Anya's still around under these conditions, she and Giles should hook up.

Wes and Gunn have a longish relationship that ends badly when Fred comes along and Gunn turns to her because he has too many hang-ups about being with Wes.

I guess Angel and Cordy are stuck with each other.

Do you have pairings that you will never read under any circumstances?

I stay away from things with Principal Snyder. I very rarely read femslash, even when it's highly recommended.

Would you ever dress up as a crocodile and sing Mary Had A Little Lamb?

No, but I'll dress up as a little lamb and sing Crocodile Rock.

Clash or Cure?

A High Wind in Jamaica or My Dog Tulip?

Miller or Nin?

Salmon: wild or farmed?

Klimt or de Lempicka?

Character or plot?

Reptile or amphibian?

The candlestick in the billiard room? Or the rope in the study?

Only because I love you do you get so many questions.

Clash or Cure?

Neither. Never listened to them.

A High Wind in Jamaica or My Dog Tulip?

Never read them. And suspect I am revealing my inadequacies as an English major.

Miller or Nin?

Nin.

Salmon: wild or farmed?

Either.

Klimt or de Lempicka?

I am the student with pedestrian tastes doomed to be killed by Sunday and whose poster gets slapped on the Klimt wall.

Character or plot?

Character.

Reptile or amphibian?

Reptile.

The candlestick in the billiard room? Or the rope in the study?

What am I doing with the candlestick? Is it naughty?

Let's see, a question for you that reveals me. Okay. To what do you attribute your Cinderella Complex? I'm sure you've talked about this before, but I wasn't here then. So there. What this reveals about me is that I have a CC too, I'm too lazy to look in your archives to find my answer, and I don't care for Tupperware parties. (Okay, that last bit might have just been implied.)

Well, I'm lazy and have low self-esteem but a high opinion of myself. I desire to be insanely rich and have people cater to my every need and give me unconditional love even when I'm raving and frothing like a psycho. I'm a princess!

Mostly though my CC manifests itself through fan-fiction.

LJs should be searchable by keyword. Maybe someday they'll get wise and add that function.

Anna S.eliade on December 7th, 2003 09:46 pm (UTC)
I must respectfully decline the badger.

My favorite vegetable...hmm. The tomato is a fruit, so that doesn't count. Is garlic a veg? Potato? Well, never mind. Here's a freaky fact about me: I like kale on sandwiches instead of lettuce. I make grinders this way: a nice tough french style bread, with sharp chedder, tomato, green pepper, onion, olives, and kale.
