plight of the lemons, and other things

My Monday began with the valiant application of make-up, disaster preparation (stocking my purse), my departure for work, and then the sudden recollection that I'd brought my laptop home and it was sitting by my front door. Luckily I was only a block away, so I'm not going to write off the day yet. If you measure the Mondayness of a Monday on a percentage scale of, say, 0-110%, it's hovering at about 30%.

A manager sent out an e-mail this morning that read: "It is important that are message is constituent" for "It is important that our message is consistent." I like her well enough, but the editor in me is facepalming on her behalf.

Feel free to congratulate me, I would love that, but only after you sign this consent form in which you relinquish all expectations of a response, and acknowledge my full disclosure that I will vow in my heart to reply to each and every one of you and then probably never get around to it except in spirit, mostly because I'll be staring at my monitor and wondering how to make progress on my projects without going mad and attacking the mayor my coworkers with hummus.

Meanwhile I'm listening to Poe's Haunted. Is she considered alternative? Or is she something else? Avant-pop? Abstract? Electro-organic? Folk Rock? Jesus Christ, I'm old. Anyway, how is it I now and then love something outside the Top-40 grazing pasture, but about two-thirds of LJ music recs baffle and disappoint me? Nothing personal. I'm a mutant whose playlists include Journey, Marc Cohn, Bob Seger, and Lesley Gore.

I did finally cave and buy a copy of Matthew Good's Avalanche after being unable to find "Weapon" anywhere on its own. So far, very good.

Oh, and I bought a bleach pen last night. Er...that's unrelated to anything else. But I was just like the guy in the commercial, rabidly excited about the product. I came home and rushed to my bathtub and used it on my grout. The grout, it plagues me. It worked a bit...ish, but not enough to justify Commercial Guy's exhilaration or mine. I think new applications of grout are called for.

Note to self: WAKE UP!

thank you

You all really helped get me through this day. Of which I am still at work. Am a little bit shaky and freaked out at still being here, but I've made some headway in PFH (project from hell) and am leaving now.

yin_again wrote SGA comment porn. Hot. Good. Salty like popcorn. But not puffy like popcorn. Puffy is good for popcorn but not perhaps for life. Or porn. Wow. I'm losing it. And I have Seinfeld's Puffy Shirt on the brain. Anyway. Someday I will repay yin_again, I hope, and the rest of you, just a little. With words and sanity and things.
