black dog.

So, I ran out of money. Middle of the month, and I should have a few hundred dollars in my bank account, but instead I have a negative balance. I haven't figured out what happened yet. It's kind of irrelevant, given the fact that I have no money.

So I tried to get a small advance on my paycheck and was told that they couldn't "accomodate" that--after they'd made me list all the personal reasons for why I wanted the advance, i.e., no money for food or anything else, three prescription medications coming up for renewal in a few days, etc. Anna to HR: "Thanks for looking into this. Not to sound bitter, but it'll be a great comfort to think of the funds waiting for me at the month's end for work I've already done when my blood pressure medication runs out in a few days. It's good to know now that the company is unwilling to accomodate an emergency request for an employee of six years."

Fuckers.

I've exercised some stock options, and thank god I can do that, but I won't have any money in hand earlier than next Tuesday or Wednesday.

I feel sick to my stomach and angry and depressed. If this post sounds like a whine for sympathy, that's because it totally and completely is. I need comfort.

oohhh, dude.

I am greatly, greatly cheered. If it weren't for everything else, I would be saying now, "Could this day get any better?" and meaning it. *g*

ETA: Maybe I'll just quote this. ;>D

"Spike and Angel; they were hanging out for years and years and years. They were all kinds of deviant. Are people thinking they never...? Come on, people! They're opened-minded guys!"

- Joss Whedon, DVD commentary to "A Hole in the World"

Ganked from doyle_sb4. Thank you!

grr argh, money redux.

Just one of those "let that be a lesson" and "learn from my mistake" posts--I checked my online ("paperless") payroll statement for last month, which I don't normally do because the system is such a hassle, and the deposit amount is less than the figure I got from my bank teller and wrote down in my checkbook. I intend to do the best I can to make sure the bank covers the overdraft fees they've generated for me. Asshats.

The lesson today is: when it comes to money, double-check your figures.

you guys are awesome...

I just wanted to mass hug everyone for the responses to my earlier post when I was about to have a panic attack. I went and got one of those payday loans to cover me until next week and I feel much better now. I don't know how long it would have taken me to get past dithering and consider that as a serious option, so thank you, guys, for helping to keep my brain in gear! You were all helpful and very sweet.

This is just an fyi really, to "close the loop" as biz buzz-wording would have it. :>)

Angel: Ground State

"Ground State" is a strange episode. It's like...filler, but not. The point of the episode was to get the glowy artifact so that they had a way to find Cordelia, but they could have spent much less time on that and focused much more of the episode on the main characters instead of Gwen. I mean, WTF was up with the whole "Angel's beating heart!" stuff, and the kiss? It's also strange how "The House Always Wins" follows this up, with Angel utterly blithe as he offers his anecdotes of Vegas. It makes me think: well, dude, if you're going to be that casual so soon after your failure to find Cordy, why don't we just scratch "Ground State" off the menu entirely? I mean, do we have to have an entire episode based around an attempt to find Cordelia if he's going to blow it off so easily an ep later? Why not go straight to the Vegas ep, with the idea that finding Lorne first might help them better prep for the Cordelia search, and then they could come back and find out that she's already there?

I don't know if I'm making sense, but it's a lame sort of follow-up to the great season opener.

I'm watching "Slouching Toward Bethlehem" now, just a few minutes in. I don't remember anything about it, really.

Vampires with an opportunistic tow-truck business. Ha.

Angel: Supersymmetry

Okay, I know in the beginning of this ep, it's Angel bringing Lorne the tray in bed, and Lorne calling Angel all those endearments like "Sugar Pie", but in my mind? This is evidence for the strange but delightful AU possibility of Spike/Lorne. Because I am bad and wrong that way.

*dopey sigh*
