forecast: lightly cloudly, expect heavy spam this afternoon

I have a lot to do at work today. I have a lot to do at work for the next two months. There are three people on my team. One is being cannibalized to fill another internal role for the duration of the holiday season; the other, I've just learned, is leaving the team entirely. Until we hire someone else, I'm going to be the only editor in charge of...of everything! Insert maniacal laugh here, segue to anxious gasping panic attack.

It's actually cool to be in a position where (a) you are the hand to which everyone must talk, and (b) you can say, with perfect justification, "I'm sorry. We don't have the resources for that right now." And of course where, for work done, you get all the cookies credit.

So I have a lot of work to do today, but am as yet unfocused. I think my stuffed Target dog wants to be taken out for a walk. Also, cubicle land is just too dark and it's making me sleepy. I think I'm going to have to buy 100-watt bulbs for all my lamps. And maybe get some mirrors to reflect and amplify the light. And maybe rope the sun and bolo it right down on people's heads like a giant fiery smackdown. Turn on the lights!

Oh my god am I going to make it through this day?
