Angel 5.6: "The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco"

Wow, everyone had really different opinions on this ep. I have very short opinions. I liked what they tried to do. I mean, finally acknowledging Mexican culture for the first time in five years. And the music was beautiful, as were the final shots of Angel walking through W&H. But most of the episode...eh. herself_nyc pegs my thoughts about Spike with her spike.macro assessment. He did have a bit more meat to chew on in the way of dialogue, but I am still "Whatever." Just so disappointed.

Really, this episode was all about Wes. Everyone else was fucking around, and he was just stunning. Intense and real and tired and wounded and beautiful.

Angel's remark about the "father will kill the son" prophecy was the single stupidest thing I've ever seen on the show. It seems clear that's what will prompt Wes to begin his research and eventually uncover the memory-wipe spell. And I simply boggle and boggle and boggle. I mean...you know what, forget it. Either you think it's the stupidest thing ever or you don't. I'm not going to convince anyone by belaboring it. The *moment* was all Wes's--his reaction was beauty, yes. But Angel saying that--I grimace at the badness.

Gunn grabbing Wes's arm was nice, must admit.
