um, right...right wing.
You might think that this was an elaborate joke, but you would be wrong.

Wow. You know the inclusion of Leona Helmsey as an example of someone we should all be looking up to was a detail worthy of an Onion article.

I regret that I never meet people like this face to face. I imagine the conversations I'd have with them would be very fascinating, particularly when I get to the part of explaning things to them in small words.

Yes, I thought the depiction of her as a sweet, innocent, little old lady was a particularly nice touch.

Unfortunately, I *do* know people like this in real life. Now I'm not saying that there aren't some that you might know personally who are really nice guys, and I'm sure they have their place in the world, but allow them to actually congregate and be open about their beliefs, and they threaten the very fabric of our society and all that's good and holy in the world.

You know, that last sentence was supposed to be sarcastic, but really, the more I think about it...

Oh. My. God.

That's just insane.

*sigh* I'm not sure if I should look forward to or dread a lifetime of trying to convince guys like him that he's wrong. Or, since I doubt he'll ever be changing his mind, trying to convince the people who are undecided and uncertain.

What puzzles me is the people who say that homosexuality is wrong because the Bible says so. The Bible also said eating pork is wrong, fortunetelling is a capitol offense, and nobody is allowed to wear stuff made of wool mixed with linen. The list of things people were not allowed to do in the Bible, but that they commonly do now is endless, and so is the list of things they used to have to do, but don't do any more. Why is homosexuality such a big deal?

Good freakin' point.

Bigoted crap such as that newspaper article just tires me. What part of "God is love" do they not understand?

Teehee!
Thanks for that.

My god, what a sad little person. I thought chaps like that shot themselves.

Wow
Doesn't it read like a 19th century diatribe against woman? In their place, fine don't you know, but give them power and it drives them mad. Restrict them to woman's work. Curb their dangerous sexuality. It's okay to use them, but one can't allow them the rights of any other citizen.

Goddamn it!

Gah. Unfortunately, so not a joke -- and since this is my denomination, I'm hearing more and more comments like this.

What I find particularly worrying is the way that the Right have decided to use the gay issue the way they used to play anti-semitism. They largely can't get away with Jew-Baiting any more, but talking about conspiratorial gay men trying to take over every institution imaginable still works for them. Especially when they throw the accusation against those few idiot gay men stupid enough to be rightwing politicians.

Huh
What I find particularly worrying is the way that the Right have decided to use the gay issue the way they used to play anti-semitism.

Y'know, I hadn't thought of it in those terms, but that makes total sense. And I'm feeling kind of silly that I didn't recognize it before, but then again, the right is very good at using a single, narrow issue and using it to whip up "moral outrage."

Actually, what got to me in the article was the assertion that sexually abusive priest in the Roman Catholic church is a "homosexual" issue.

Blah!
