Do you plan your fics out or just write as the muse inspires you?
Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 04:23 am (UTC)
The only stories I've planned out are Noir and the follow-ups to "Sidelines," where I used outlines and knew more or less what plot points I wanted to hit in the "season" and in each "ep." Mostly I just scribble loosely and hope to make sense. ;)

I'm just starting to write, and I seem to be of the 'scribble loosely' technique. It is good to hear that you work that way, since I love your writing.

Thank you :)

9. Who is your least favorite character on SGA?
Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 04:28 am (UTC)
Well, hmm...my least favorite is probably just that--not a character I dislike (because I don't really have any of those) but a character who doesn't interest me as much as the others. I guess that'd have to be Beckett. There's nothing wrong with him; he just doesn't strongly compel me when he's onscreen. I think that's the fate of many secondary/supporting characters; the stars and the plots can weaken their parts.
Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 04:29 am (UTC)
the stars and the plots can weaken their parts.

What I meant was, the focus given to stars and plots takes time away from supporting characters, which of course means they're less developed.

#6: What is your favorite recreational physical activity? (Other than sex.)
Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 04:57 am (UTC)
Basketball! Well, shooting hoops. And god, I really really need to get to the gym. :P

#27: Why (for what reasons) do you have the tattoos that you do?
Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 08:07 am (UTC)
I got the bird first, and chose it because it seemed nicely symbolic of personal flight (in the uplifting rather than fleeing sense) and I couldn't think of anything else. And I had flying dreams as a child, so I went with that.

The coiled snake I got because I'd seen a similar design around the belly-button of a girl in college and the image stayed with me ever since. Also I've always liked spirals. The snake is facing outward, which in an offhand way I decided would be symbolic of looking beyond myself instead of always being curled up in self-absorption.

I drew both of them. :)

8. What is your least favorite tactile sensation?
Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 08:04 am (UTC)
My hands tend to be itchy (I need to have a specialist look at them, I think, as they're not getting much better), and sometimes they get *really* REALLY itchy until I want to scream. But if I run them under extraordinarily hot water, the feeling of relief is almost orgasmic.

1. What are your three favorite desserts?
Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 08:00 am (UTC)
Just three? Oh...wow. Hmm.

1. A yellow layer cake with chocolate frosting, when it's homemade and the cake is incredibly soft and the frosty is incredibly light and creamy. And milk.
2. Hot homemade apple pie with a really good vanilla ice cream and a bit of sharp white cheddar melted on top of the pie. And no weird little currants or anything to distract from the artwork. ;)
3. Black-bottom cupcakes.

Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 08:01 am (UTC)

Sure. What would you like to ask? :)
Painfully perkyicarusancalion on December 31st, 2005 08:24 am (UTC)
Where were you when the universe was created, and what can you tell us about that moment? Anything you would change?

Icarus

Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 11:49 pm (UTC)
Where were you when the universe was created, and what can you tell us about that moment?

I was sitting on a stool at the counter of what would later become Ruby's Diner in Hackensack, New Jersey, then merely an eternal void without space, matter, or time--but pretty busy for a Friday night, the whole place "in an excited vacuum state," as Paul Davies has described it, a "ferment of quantum activity, teeming with virtual particles and full of complex interactions." In short, a lot of fist-fights were breaking out and the place was jumping. I don't usually have that good a memory, but I remember this atemporal and aspatial night in particular, because that's the night Ruby was shot. Also, the coffee was perfect--the first and last time that would ever be the case at Ruby's. It was as if she knew that time had come.

18. How do you feel about crossover stories?
Anna S.eliade on December 31st, 2005 10:55 pm (UTC)
I have a soft spot for them, but I'm still waiting for the big one to slay me. The first crossover I ever saw was when I was fourteen or fifteen--there was this little comic book shop around where I lived and they sold zines. I came across a Star Trek/Dr. Who gen crossover story. I didn't realize what I had at the time--I mean, now, it'd be like, "Oh, huh, okay--is it well-written?" But then, it was like some jaw-droppingly astonishing miracle: where could something like this have come from?! *g*

#20 How many nipples do you have? Well it was going to be socks otherwise and how boring is that.

15. When did you last get severely disappointed?
Anna S.eliade on January 3rd, 2006 12:17 am (UTC)
I thought about this, but I don't really have an answer. I can't remember anything recently that fits as a severe disappointment. The last significant disappointment might be when I asked for $X salary for my current position and got less--but it wasn't really severe. I'll answer another question if you have one, though.
