the prestige of isolated words
Bullet points in ten words or less.

  • Work, work, work. Sleep. Work, work, work. Sleep. Rewind, replay.
  • Why am I not writing J/V?! See above.
  • Adderall: jury still out, but I'm focused and working hard.
  • I'm on a sugar fast. Sugar sobriety! Three days now.
  • Gelato, ginger cookies, candy, chocolate-chip muffins. Not! See above.
  • I watched Independence Day. I cried.
  • Shooting baskets: still the best thing ever.

    ::waves hello to everyone::

I cried watching "Panic Room" yesterday.
It's something about the fierce mother and the brave kid that gets me every time.

Glad you're taking care of yourself!
I need to do more in that area.
    I feel I'm slacking …
You'll write when you can. Don't mind me shivering from withdrawal, here in the corner.

I love Independence Day. It's just so great with these really sort of unmacho guys kicking alien butt. And lighting up cigars.

    sugar
Have the weird cravings begun yet? I went cold turkey for 3 months, and I craved crap I never even eat, like gummy bears...

    Re: sugar
Surprisingly, no, no cravings yet. But we'll see what happens. :)

The sugar fast might really help you. I don't obsess about it, but I found that when I stopped eating so much sugar, I stopped craving so much sugar, and it became self-fulfillingly cool. Now I really savor my desserts when I have them, and I don't feed the monkey all day long. I feel a lot healthier, too.

Yes! I am already experiencing this. It gives me hope of cutting the stuff back longer than my experimental week. The first few days--and actually, still--it was seriously like trying not to drink. The reflex to grab something sugary was *that* strong. An intense physical and psychological imperative. But that's getting better. I actually thought of doing it because of the drinking thing--I thought, well if I can stop drinking, then stopping the river of sugar into my body would be pretty much the same thing, so maybe I *can* do it. We'll see how it goes. :)

*nod* I remember that craving. For me, it's mainly chocolate that works my sweet tooth, and I find most commercially available chocolate too sweet now. I remain stuck on Scharffenberger's 70% bittersweet bars, though. Expensive! But delish.

Still, I feel better about just having one of those a week rather than the massive intake of soda, sugared coffee, sweet cereals, and the like that I used to have.

In this, as in all things, I cheer you on.

I have a thing lately for nonpareils--I've rediscovered them. They're so freaking *good*. At least with sugar, unlike with alcohol, I don't have to go completely cold-turkey. I hope. *g*

In this, as in all things, I cheer you on.

    *hugs* Thank you, sweetie.

Nah, not cold turkey. At least, not for any length of time. It works itself out, after a while.
