the girl gets fannish.
Isn't that a cheesy subject line? I celebrate my dorkitude. I see that there's a meme going around for that, but I probably don't need to do it, because you already know all the other reasons I'm a dork, which include shipping Jack/Vaughn. That covers the remaining four bullet points and then some, I think.

A kind, kind person has sent me S1 Stargate Atlantis DVDs and I can't wait for them to arrive! *squeeish* Another kind person just gave me all the new Doctor Who eps up to the finale for me to watch. So that'll be cool. And I'm sloooowly rewatching what I've seen of Odyssey 5 before I begin watching the eps I haven't seen, which were...also sent to me...by someone very kind. *cough* I'm such a mooch.

I've been thinking, again, that I might be ready to watch Angel S5, but the thing is. Um. I might be done writing in the Buffyverse, which is the reason why I might feel sane enough to watch it.

*is immediately defriended by several hundred people*

At least, I don't see myself writing anything any time soon, except maybe some tsunami stories that I have left to do. I haven't checked that list in a while. *GUILT* And I should probably make it more clear that the Noir is looking like it's on permanent "hiatus." I will try to put a note up on my site and all that. Though I've been avoiding my site because it irritates me so much these days with its lameness and staleness. It seems such a big hairy piece of old laundry to tackle, covered with dustbunnies.

I did some work today, I took some vitamins, I ate some Red Vines, I drank some coffee, and I put lipstick on several times.

Hello!

I really, really need to try the vitamin thing. They're so expensive, though! *Frets*
Anna S.: christian-bale-smileeliade on June 15th, 2005 11:33 pm (UTC)
I know. It's insane. But if I notice a real change this time around, I may have to commit to it and work it into the budget. I suppose I should check to see if insurance would cover it, but I doubt it. It's not prescription. :P The article I read about their company said that the price is barely covering costs right now; I do wonder if the price will go down if it becomes cheaper for them to product. It would seem in their best interests to do that, since they're never going to get a wide market at that price.

Lipstick is essential.

Oddly, I've been waiting to read Noir, because I seldom read in Buffy fandom. If you think it's on permanent hiatus, though, I'll have to take a look. I've enjoyed your writing in so many other fandoms *g*
Anna S.: spuffy_kisseliade on June 15th, 2005 11:39 pm (UTC)
Lipstick! :D

The noir stories stand alone, so that's something--like episodes. So it's basically as if a show was cancelled midseason. But there are...14 or 15 stories. Something like that. :)

But if not- your Buffy collective is classic just the way it is.

Don't feel guilt! There should be no guilt!

I said the same thing, after I started writing popslash with such fervor. "No more Jossverse," I said, and resolutely departed from the fandom (except for the fact that I had beloved friends who were still very involved, and all). And you know what? After a while, when the honeymoon period was over with my sparkly new fandom, I found myself coming right back to Spike and Xander and Angel and the gang, and though I'm not writing with the same devotion that I used to, I still get bunnies, still write a bit, still read. So don't wave goodbye too too finally, because I have a feeling that you love those vampires like I do. Which is to say, they'll always have a little piece of your heart.

I could be TOTALLY wrong, of course, but hey, I'm keeping hope alive. 'Cause the way you write Spike and Xander and Angel and all is the way I wish I could, and I literally adore your fiction, and someday, maybe, you'll wander back and then I'll throw a party like you ain't never seen. *grin*
Anna S.: xandereliade on June 15th, 2005 11:46 pm (UTC)
"No more Jossverse," I said, and resolutely departed from the fandom

I was sad, I admit, because I think there were WIPs or series I was dying for more of, and I had to bite my lip not to nag you for the longest time. *g*

But--

Don't feel guilt! There should be no guilt!

Ditto. Hee. *HUG*

And like you, I'm up in the air, really--I may write something again someday. Just not soon.

Nah, if you're done with Buffyverse, you're done. And considering that you've got quite a few people interested in anything you write, I doubt you're going to have a mass exodus of people leaving soda bottles and gum wrappers littering your journal.

And Red Vines don't make the best coffee stirrer. They kinda melt and get all bendy. Well, um, the Red Vines and coffee were right next to each other up there. What's a girl to think?
Anna S.: jm-shorneliade on June 15th, 2005 11:44 pm (UTC)
Well, I might write more Jossverse stuff someday, of course. But I'd hate people to hang around waiting.

It's really that thing, you know, where you think: I WILL NEVER LEAVE THIS FANDOM! Because you can't imagine it. You can't imagine leaving, you can't imagine loving another one enough to make the transition, but of course the transition happens eventually (to most people). It just happens so gradually that you don't notice until it's pretty much done.
Laura Shapiro: buffylaurashapiro on June 15th, 2005 11:41 pm (UTC)
I'll admit I'm sad about you being finished in the Buffyverse (Noir! ::clings::). But I ain't defriending you, no way, nohow.

Can't promise I'll read Alias fic, but I still want to know what's going on with you. Always.

Shipping Jack/Vaughn makes one a dork?

Oh wow!

Can't make yourself write from a fandom you've grown bored of /left/whatever. It's better to leave than to write a forced ending of 'and... er... they like shagged in the middle of the thickening plot the end!'

As long as you actually put the lipstick on yourself (hides from horrendous mental images of Jack in drag), everything's cool...
Anna S.: jack-bristoweliade on June 15th, 2005 11:49 pm (UTC)
(hides from horrendous mental images of Jack in drag),

What, hold on--did I send you the draft notes to my next story installment? Because...that's eerie. Get out of my head! Now I'm feeling like I shouldn't write that!

*hee*

I solemnly swear that I will *never* write Jack in drag. Though you should really be more careful, because the idea never would have occurred to me and now it's lodged in my head for good. Things of that kind are like plutonium or something. Long half-lives. Absorbed into the earth, even though they are radioactive and evil.

Awww. Mulder.

Also, what if Riley was the long-lost brother of Sydney, and he and Buffy came to the Aliasverse to help solve an occult crime? I mean, I know nothing about the Aliasverse, but Buffy/Syd sounds hot to me.

....slinks away, waiting for more Jack/Vaughn.

As I said in one of the Recs posts on S3 if you wrote new Jossverse fic I would fall on it with glad cries, but as long as I can find some fandom where you're writing, well, cool. Who knows, maybe the addition of Ben Browder will finally draw me into Stargate (it gets watched here, just not so much by me) and then I've got all those stories to go back to.

So, well, anyway, if I've learned anything in life (over and over) trying to convince people to do or not do things because that's the way I want it to happen is pretty much a waste of time and energy.

Julia, but yeah, go ahead and watch Angel Season 5... (evil grin)

Hrm. Re: BtVS receding quietly in the rear-view mirror. I know the feeling. Although for me I think there's still a security blanket thing, where I'll continue to come back and clutch needily at the known and familiar, regardless of how nastily pilled and cat-hairy it's become.

Hullo... I friended you recently, don't really know how you operate, so feel free to rear back in affront and then ignore me completely...

If you have notes and outlines for Noir, would you ever consider liberating them? It would be cool to know what you had planned, and I could play fill-in-the-blanks in my head. Process is sometimes as much fun to read as product. I loved your dvd commentary on that one S/X story.

I friended you for your style no less than the characters you write, so I'll cheerfully follow you from fandom to fandom. I've been gleefully reading the J/V though I've never seen an episode.

Not the 'noir'! ::clings to the noir::

My biggest regret is that my stupid hard drive crashed and took 'Hanging by a Moment' with it!!!

I think you're just *brilliant* and I enjoy reading your stories so much... I'll get over the shock of the 'noir' nevermore :)

I will always *love* your Spike/Xander 'Horoscope' story. Lovely work.

I'm just an anonymous LJ-less stalker of you ( and witling) who craves your Spander. I understand your feelings, but I don't and can't do Alias or SGA or other 'verses so I have lost you and the boys. I am bereft and depressed. Yea, I languish.

Oh, and re "I did some work today, I took some vitamins, I ate some Red Vines, I drank some coffee, and I put lipstick on several times"--we should all be so lucky!

As the only person here who's read essentially everything you've written except Noir, I'm glad that you'll have that time freed up to devote to other fic. Like Jack/Vaughn. Or, say, McKay/Sheppard. ::squees like a little fangirl for Atlantis::

I almost bought a box of pens today because they said "Atlantis" on the side in silver writing. *So* pathetic
Malkin Greymalkingrey on June 16th, 2005 01:34 am (UTC)
If there's no more Noir ever, it'll be a pity; on the other hand, the arc of the series had reached a point where the way out on the other side was, if not precisely within immediate reach, at least looming above the horizon. So there would have been much worse places to have stopped.
The Spikespike21 on June 16th, 2005 03:38 am (UTC)
I asked for a Buffyverse fic for my tsunami story, but I totally get the vagaries of the writing brain. I don't watch Alias, but whenever the fandom winds blow us into the same fandom sea you can write me my tsunami story from that. (no, I shall never give up the Golden Ticket of an eliade story written just for meeeeeeeeeee. *g*)
Pamgoosegirl9 on June 16th, 2005 04:01 am (UTC)
Ah, I'll admit I really regret not reading how you would end Noir; I loved each of the episodes. It is one of my favorites, but that is for you to decide. I appreciate what you wrote; I appreciate and enjoy what you are writing now and (hope to!) enjoy more of it in the future. (Hey, I read your slash, and I don't even like slash.)

"I did some work today, I took some vitamins, I ate some Red Vines, I drank some coffee, and I put lipstick on several times."

This was all wonderful news! I'm so glad the vitamins are helping you!

Still, better an unfinished masterpiece than end it shoddily. If the thrill is gone, the thrill is gone. (sniff)

You could always declare that Noir will be on hiatus for as long as nsync will be on hiatus. Then when they do their 20 years later reunion tour we will hunt you down and bring you back to Sunnydale.
ruthless1ruthless1 on June 16th, 2005 03:39 pm (UTC)
Here's the thing. You write it, I'll read it. I may be more likely to comment on buffyverse stuff but your writing is worth following. So I'll stay with you. And you know what I love about your website? I am not even HALFWAY through it and there's still more to go. Yeah website perusal at work! So please don't fret and enjoy your lovely lipstick and the new vitamin regimin.

No more Noir, ever, huh?

Well, this ranks among my most depressing days ever as a fan of the Jossverse and of writing in general.

Thank you so much for writing as much of it as you did...SO brilliant.

PS. Really glad the vitamins seem to be helping you. However, be careful to watch your dosing levels as some vitamins and minerals are toxic at high levels.

Argh, no--don't cry! I feel like saying, wait, I might write more again someday! Though then again, I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, which is why I posted in the first place. :(

I may do something like post story notes & so on to "end" it.

Did you see the snippets of the next bit that I wrote in January(ish), by the way? I don't know if those would interest you, but if you haven't seen them, I can dig them out.

Thank you so much! *squeeze*

I understand about the moving on and not wanting to write BUffyverse. It makes me cry like a frightened little child, but I understand. Please don't disparage what you did, though, because it's amazing work and always will be, and you'll garner new readers for it for years to come, I'm sure. Maybe after a while you'll even feel a resurgence of interest (never say never) but meanwhile, I want to thank you for the wonderful stories.

I also wonder, if you even know, whether you'd be amenable to writing out a synopsis of how the Noir would've been resolved.
