thursday

I woke up with a sore throat. Not! Fair! I've been taking 9 megavitamins a day for two weeks and all I've gotten out of it, after an initial placebo effect, is continued lethargy and a hit to my immune system. I don't suppose I should give up yet though.

I stayed home and slept until 11:30 and then noticed I had phone message. It was from the mailman. He told me that my mailbox was so full that he'd taken all my mail to the post office, where I could pick it up in 10 days or have it returned to senders. I hadn't checked the box since at least the tenth of the month. There I hand you a key insight into my personality.

So I went to the post office a block from my house and learned that it wasn't the post office for my neighborhood. The actual post office for my neighborhood is a mile away. But that's okay. Going outside led me to the discovery that it's beautiful weather and so I roused myself, shot some hoops at the gym and had lunch, and blah blah blah. I don't feel at all guilty. I feel cruddy, and if I'd just lain around my fusty apartment amidst a litter of tissues, eating peanut butter, I know I'd be feeling even cruddier.

Also, the post office kindly threw all my junk mail away and gave me only my bills. I love that! I'd almost pay them to do that, just weed out all that crap mail before delivering only the critical stuff.

I would love to have little kittens crawling all over me right now. That'd be happy.

What are you guys doing today? I can't promise I'll answer comments, but I will read them sleepily and gratefully.

Kittens!

You are not a fic, obviously, despite my use of the "cuddle this fic" icon. But in the icon is my kitten, whom I shall send over to virtually crawl all over your. Plz to ignore the fact that she is now 2 years older han wehn this picture was taken.

Today? I siphoned the twenty-five gallon plastic tank where I grow a miniature waterlily and some wapato. It's probably better if I do that more often, there was some severely scary algae in the tank.

My son and I put up an eight-foot pressure treated 4"X4" post to extend the pergola to take another rampler rose: Felicite et Perpetue, which I will take photos of when it blooms, very pretty indeed.

I determined that the white cow named Josephina needs to have her calf soon or explode, washed some of my clothes and more of the offspring's clothes, weeded at random, and as soon as 5X5 is over, I'll be making some fajita-ish vegetables to go into burritos for dinner tonight.

Oh, and sat down and wrote 1600+ acceptable words of my next chapter in about two hours, which was VERY nice.

Julia, the experience, not necessarily the words

Today I watched it alternately pour rain and try to be sunny. I went to the post office and mailed some packages. One of them was to mogigraphia in England -- it cost more to mail the package than the item inside the package cost, which I find strangely amusing. The boy and I went to the pet store and one of those local little-kid gymnasiums to get details about signing him up for a class. He's going to take a free trail class next week. He is excited because they have a trampoline.

I am watching disc 1 of S3 SG-1 and I'm just not as happy about it as I want to be. I would rather be rewatching something I already know I like. I want to make a Jeremiah vid to Counting Crows "Mr Jones," which is the least appropriate song possible. My eye itches.

That's all I've got. :-)

Fred would happily crawl all over you, especially if you are willing to throw a foil ball for her a few dozen hundred thousand times.

Awwwwwwwww! *dies from the cuteness!*

I went to a pet store today and waggled my fingers through the bars of the kitty prison. They sleepily blinked back and did kitten yawns and then flopped over like cushions with half the stuffing gone.

Today, I sat all day in a famous filmmaker's office, filling in for a friend. Oddly, the office is also the famous filmmaker's bedroom, which would be creepy except he is not there. He calls in for messages, of which there are none. Sometimes one. A fax came in which indicated he is being sued for a lot of money. So, I am alone all day in a large, well-apportioned, heirloom-filled, book-lined bachelor apartment on the Upper East Side in Manhattan. Oh, and there's a computer.

It could be worse.

Two of my cats are now sleeping head-to-head and the third has buggered off somewhere. They say hi.

Today only just started. I woke up at six and said oh no, it's my day off, and slept till quarter to seven, and now I'm having breakfast and chatting with giddygeek and pondering whether I should clean the windows. or not. *wanders off to have another pancake*

I got a bikini wax and then went to my friend's place, then ate a hamburger and read "Big Blonde" by Dorothy Parker. I watched half of The Daily Show.

The cats in your icon look almost exactly like my cats, except the smaller one is a different colour.

So far, I'm haven't accomplished much. Woke up to discover that the water pipes on the first floor of my apartment building had exploded. Which made me glad that my apartment is on the 4th floor. However, the water supply was shut off for a couple of hours and I was consequently rather late getting to work (I didn't think they'd especially want me unshowered). So - just got here. And now I'm reading LJ. Bad me.

Hi there!
I'm a bit late as have been on a jaunt around a bit of the UK. On Thursday I spent the morning wombling around my old stamping ground, York, and bought some DVDs for a friend, cheap - including Driller Killer! Also a vid. of a DB film, Valentine.
Had tea in the Danish Kitchen and looked around my old college.
Then took the train to Leeds to stay with a friend for a couple of days, and she took me to see Hitch-Hiker, where I promptly fell asleep!
Sad fangirl that I am, the highlight of the whole trip was a hug from JM after a gig in Coventry on Monday.
