I admit, I stacked the deck.
I don't feel wowfully great this morning. I don't feel fresh, young, and full of vim. Not ready for the hospital or morgue--but tired. Tired and vimless.

Poll #475376 Anna's Friday

Should I go to work today?

Life's too short. Then you die. YOU NEVER EVER EXIST AGAIN. Go eat a croissant and stare at the clouds.

If you're ambulatory, you work. If you don't, you're a leech on the butt of Corporate America!

Just be careful about the cloud-staring part, best to do so from inside or near shelter else you drown, get buried in sleet, or aquire hypothermia.

Julia, disliking this alleged April

Go to work. Cough. Look sickly, pale, and dedicated. Press a hand to your stomach and look queasy. THEN say faintly that you don't think you can make it through the day and go eat a croissant.

I should cough right *on* my boss, right? Hmm.

Hey, what's your icon of? I've been admiring it.

Here's my trick: If you normally wear make-up, don't. When I feel like having a short day at work without having to come up with too many faux coughing attacks, pseudo wheezing and a tiny voice, I just omit the make-up. No mascara, no lipstick. They take one look at me and send me home, convinced that I'm dying. I should be insulted, but hey, it works.

Any advice for someone who doesn't wear make-up to work?

(yeah, I know - "For god's sake go and put some make-up on!!)

It's some of jwaneeta's artwork for a sekrit project that will be unveiled next Tuesday, Lord willing and the creek don't rise...

If you can get away with it, take the day off.
I wouldn't want to vote the wrong way in the poll that got you fired!

I'm eating a croissant *at* work right now. :-) It would be better at home, though.

If you're going to phone in sick, try and make the call first thing in the morning before you have anything to drink - you invariably sound worse that way.
Pamgoosegirl9 on April 15th, 2005 03:57 pm (UTC)
Hmmm. Home. Definitely better.

I used to have an hour plus commute. One beautiful summer day I got within 15 minutes of work, turned around, went home and called in sick.

So you know which way I voted. The blahs are an illness and require treatment just like anything else. I hope you feel better soon.

It's my day off. I work a 6 day week.
Unless I am activelky barfing, I go in.

I used to belong to the cloud staring class, but then I combined a bad shock from the bank with reading a book about how not to be mad/unhappy/sick all the time. So now I bribe myself - if I go in to work and complete all the hours I'm supposed to do i award myself a chessman, (pawns for easy days, taller pieces for days when I really do NOT want to go but still do) these sit on the top of my TV at the foot of my bed, where I can see them and feel proud. And when I've accumulated a certain number I award myself a treat - something I otherwise wouldn't have or do.

It's like crack, I tell ya - now I go to work just cos I want another chessman.

The bleaghs
I've been feeling like this for weeks - turns out my blood pressure is low and I'm anaemic (again) so I'm taking iron tablets and, even though they know at work and I've been told to go home early today if it's quiet which it is (hurray), I'm still coming into work because it's the kind of bleagh which feels worse at home on my own.

Corporate America can kiss MY butt!
