gasp, gurgle.
The saga of my job offering is drawing to a close. I attempted position and salary negotiation, which didn't pan out, but I'm taking the offer, as the money is really quite a significant bump and it's a tech position, and it's all good. The level thing bugs me a bit, because if I stayed in my current position I'm pretty assured of promotion in just a few more months, which brings additional stock. But I've been told I'd be eligible for consideration again in November in this new position, so, eh. It also, perversely enough, appeases my inner slacker--a more ego-uncertain creature in the tradition of ego-uncertain women--who doesn't necessarily want more responsibility to live up to.

So I am happy. *g*

The money will not quite come in time for me to manage Escapade expenses, so despite my supposedly firm, concrete, very bricklike intention of finally attending again this year, I've decided not to. But maybe with extra discretionary $, I can visit some of you guys later in the year.

And I will buy a yacht of course. And possibly a villa in the south of France. *fans self contemplatively*

I'm very happy for you. Congratulations! And if you ever want to come to NY, you can sleep on my lousy Aerobed.

I am very glad that you're happy with how things turned out. I suspect your recent negotiations will be remembered in November.

I'm not going to Escapade, either, but I hope to see you this year. You're welcome to visit anytime, of course.

New job: yay!

Missing Escapade: sob!

All in all, a mixed bag, but I'm happy for you anyway. :-)

Congrats on the job! Sorry to hear you won't be making it to Escapade, though. Not that I don't see you more often than that, but still. *g*

Dude. You rock.

Congratulations on the new job, and you're welcome to drop in on us during your future couch-surfing expedition down the coast.

Yay, congrats! It's always good to see you happy.

Congratulations! The level thing is too bad, but to me, real power is always the hypothetical power to walk away and go somewhere else for bucks, and a tech position seems to offer more options that way. Whereas future employers aren't going to understand/care what your level was according to the specific rules of your company.

Or, hey, I could be misunderstanding totally! :) But I persist in celebrating and saying go, you! Money, tech position, yeah!

Of Escapade, I will not speak. Except to say I expect to see you ensconced in my guest room at some point in the future. I will bring you coffee and brioche in the morning on a silver tray, as is appropriate for your new station in corporate life.

Yes! And I just got you a present, which I will mail off when I locate your address in my inbox. *g* Assuming it's the same address to which I mailed you those books...? (I *did* mail you books, right? My memory deficit is having a scary day.)

Many congratulations - if there were more inner slackers around there'd be a lot less wars...

Yes, please come visit me. Or rather, come and visit koimistress, and then swing by my little Fortress of Poverty when you're done wallowing in the loveliness of her home! And then we can sit on the couch and smile shyly at each other while the DVD Du Jour natters on in the background. *g*

Escapade?
I respect your choice, of course, but hey, that's what credit cards are for! Get one of those 'no-percent for 6 month cards' and come party with us in SoCal! (yes I do live waaaaay beyond my means - out in the ozone, by now).

Congratulations, I'm really pleased for you and I think that Koimistress is right in that what you've actually achieved is the sort of currency that any future employer will understand, as opposed to grading which is less portable (though, of course, no less desirable in your current position) - why don't you make a diary note for the end of September to wage and win that battle.

PS Taking a note out of your book, I stayed late at the office tonight to try to whip my own Charlie Victor into shape and I'm going to be braving the agencies Monday and Tuesday - now look what you've started!
